Rethink–a–Drink™

Alcohol Education Program

Our Rethink–a–Drink™ Alcohol Awareness Class is designed for individuals who have been referred to an alcohol education program by a school, probation officer, judge, teen court, youth court, or peer court.

This four-hour class is 100% online and completely self-paced. Developed by experts and offered through the reputable Offender Solutions® series of online classes, it can be completed from the comfort of your home on your own schedule.

Class Curriculum

Offender Solutions® Inc. staff began researching and working with alcohol-related referrals in 1975. Early on it became clear that imposing fees, fines, or suspensions did little to influence people’s behavior or attitudes toward alcohol use.

Today, Offender Solutions® (Rethink-a-Drink) is a nationwide leader in providing alcohol education classes through our Rethink-a-Drink™ alcohol education class. Our program was developed to be the highest-quality online underage drinking class available. We use an evidence-based, cognitive restructuring and psycho-educational model focused on the student’s attitudes, values, and beliefs.

Primary Goal

The primary goal of the Offender Solutions® Rethink-a-Drink™ underage drinking alcohol awareness class is for the student to seriously explore his or her own attitudes, values, and beliefs about underage drinking.

Rethink-a-Drink™ is a distance learning program built around five key objectives:

Objective 1: Empowerment

To help students develop a sense of personal responsibility for each decision made. Students learn that their level of use and level of risk are largely influenced by their own attitudes, values, and beliefs.

Objective 2: Education

To inform students about the short- and long-term problems associated with alcohol use.

Objective 3: Skills

To teach alcohol refusal strategies and expose students to a variety of “in the moment” techniques. Identifying and practicing these skills is encouraged and emphasized.

Objective 4: Victim Awareness

To help students understand the impact alcohol use can have on strangers, friends, family, fellow students, and coworkers. Students learn that any incident involving alcohol increases the likelihood of creating a victim.

Objective 5: Values Development

To encourage students to look inward, reflect on their values, and consider how those values influence their decisions about underage drinking.

Course Format

This is a 4-hour curriculum containing hundreds of pages of information. The Rethink-a-Drink™ class is delivered in an online classroom format using videos, content, quizzes, and multimedia presentations. The course is interactive, comprehensive, and self-paced.

Our Background

Offender Solutions® was founded through the combined 43 years of experience of a master’s-level Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CADC), a parole officer, a juvenile probation officer, two college instructors, and a justice system policy analyst. Each of these roles contributed significantly to the style, delivery, and content of our work.

We use best practices and evidence-based principles. Offender Solutions® emphasizes victim awareness, accountability, and personal responsibility. Our approach is grounded in the most effective intervention: cognitive restructuring.
